Carolina Country Music Festival-Battle of The Bands-FINALS
iHeart Media and Reverbnation have chosen the Blue Pickups for Battle of the Bands

Columbia, SC (3-7-17) – 48 Bands were chosen in the initial selections out of hundreds of submissions for a chance to battle it out with other bands from the Southeast. The contest is occurring in Charlotte, Raleigh, Myrtle Beach, & Columbia throughout the month of April. Out of the initial 64 selections, 16 bands were voted to play off in the Carolina Country Music Festival Battle of the Bands-The Road to the Beach-2017. The winning four finalists from each market will open for respective Headliners like Darius Rucker, Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean, Billy Currington, and Lee Brice to name a few.

In the first match up for the Columbia region, The Blue Pickups battled against The Bobby Darrin Band from Hickory NC and advanced to the finals. The second match up featured GA based group The Holman Autry Band against Charleston’s Page MacKenzie. Ms. MacKenzie advanced. The Final Battle is Thursday, April 27 at Wild Wing Cafe in the Vista, 729 Lady Street. The Blue Pickups will battle Page MacKenzie. Doors open at 8PM and the concert is FREE and open to the public. The winner from Thursday’s performance will open for Kenny Chesney on Saturday, June 10 on the main Coors Light stage at this years festival. The group made its debut in December of 2015, opening at The Music Farm for Grammy Nominated and CMT Nominee, “Parmalee”. After performing as the opening act for iHeartMedia, WCOS DJ, Andy Woods, said “Wow, I love the blue Pickups and wasn’t that some show?”

“This is what we were born to do. We love to perform and put on an exciting show” said Wyatt, the charismatic lead singer. The band’s founding members are all Columbia area natives and two of them are graduates of the University of South Carolina. They play a variety of cover songs ranging from Country to Rock with a Southern Flare. They have also written and recorded 5 other songs in Nashville with Grammy Producer, Dave Wyatt. They plan on an EP release in the Spring of 2017.
