Elgin Native Band and Nashville Recording Artists
The Liberty Tap Room on the Lake has secured Nashville Recording band
Columbia, SC (4-5-16) – The Blue Pickups have been secured to play host to several public and private functions in the midlands this April and May. The band will be releasing their Nashville recorded song “Redneck Whiskey” on Saturday, April 30th. The event will be held at the Liberty On the Lake in Irmo, SC.
The song was produced by Grammy Award Winner, Dave Wyatt, in Nashville, TN and was written and co-produced by founding members Donny and Jimmy Rogers of Elgin and Chapin, Mike Danielson, and front man Kelly Wyatt. Contributing on drums was session drummer and Country Music Grammy Winner, Ben Phillips. The music video for “Redneck Whiskey” was filmed in Elgin on band member Donny Rogers’ farm. The group made its Columbia debut this past December, opening at The Music Farm for Grammy Nominated and CMT Nominee, “Parmalee”. After performing as the opening act for iHeartMedia, WCOS DJ, Andy Woods, said “Wow, I love the blue Pickups and wasn’t that some show?”
“This is what we were born to do. We love to perform and put on an exciting show” said Wyatt, the charismatic lead singer. The band’s founding members are all Columbia area native and two of them are graduates of the University of South Carolina. They play a variety of cover songs ranging from Southern Rock to Country and have also written and recorded 5 other songs in preparation for an EP release in 2017. Three of the band’s original songs will be featured in the Charleston Film Festival this Fall.
